Fraxel & Thermage illumiNATION Tour Wins Award

Monday, August 30th, 2010 by newseditor

You may remember the Solta Medical illumiNATION tour last fall, or perhaps you even drove past their heavily branded silver Airstream Trailer that sported Fraxel and Thermage treatment stations inside.

According to a recent press release, the company was awarded the Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America in the category of “Best Special Events and Observances.”

Why Solta Was Given the Award – via PR Newsire

The illumiNATION tour introduced the two latest advancements in the aesthetic industry – the Thermage CPT and Fraxel re:store Dual – to physicians and consumers in over 45 cities in the U.S. and Europe in Fall 2009. The tour was comprised of an on-line and on-the-road communications program. It produced unprecedented results, including more than 200 million media impressions, thousands of visitors and increased sales for the Thermage and Fraxel systems throughout the effort. Due to the success of the program, a Canadian tour followed in the spring and stopped in 8 cities across Canada, generating the same great results Solta experienced in the first tour.

Multiple Options For Rejuvenated Eyes

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 by editor

istock_000006408881xsmallIs this you? Your eyes appear swollen morning and night; you constantly have under eye bags or dark circles; when people aren’t saying you look tired, they’re asking if you have allergies or if you feel okay.

If these situations sounds familiar, perhaps it’s time to make a change.  When treatments are so readily available, you shouldn’t have to live with such conditions.

Dr. Lee Daniel is a board certified plastic surgeon who can recommend treatment options such as the following:

•    Upper and/or lower eyelid surgery
•    A brow/forehead lift
•    Injection with Botox cosmetic
•    Injection of a dermal filler to add volume to sunken eye troughs

In some cases, patients benefit from a combination of the above options.  Many choose to combine eyelid surgery with a brow lift.  Choosing to undergo surgery (or even a non-surgical procedure) is a significant decision, so try to gather as much information as possible.  View before and after photos of patients like you, or speak to former patients and ask them questions like these:

  1. How was the procedure beneficial for you?
  2. Were you comfortable with your surgeon?
  3. Would you do it again?
  4. Would you do anything differently?

The eyes are one of the first features on the face to which most of us respond. You deserve to have eyes that radiate, eyes that brighten your face and eyes that reflect how young and energetic you truly feel.

If you’re ready to discuss your options for facial and eyelid rejuvenation, contact the Oregon surgery office of Dr. Lee Daniel today.

Botox Competitor Reloxin Could See FDA Approval This Year

Thursday, March 19th, 2009 by editor

A study on the safety of the wrinkle relaxer ‘Reloxin’ was just published in Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery’s March/April issue. The safety and effectiveness of Reloxin was evaluated for moderate to severe forehead wrinkles or ‘glabeller lines.’

The FDA has not yet approved Reloxin, but spokespersons from Medicis Pharmaceutical say clearance is expected later this year. When this occurs, Reloxin could become the first real competitor for Botox in the U.S. cosmetic surgery market – a market which allowed Allergan Inc. to net $1.3 billion in revenue last year with Botox.

One California dermatologist who participated said to Bloomberg news about the study, “the side effects are the same as Botox” and “many of our patients liked it even better.”

Reloxin and Botox are similar in their composition; both contain a particular ‘botulinum toxin’ that has been proven to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles in the face.

Reloxin has actually been sold overseas under the name ‘Dysport’ for about 15 years, but Botox has still managed to claim over 80 percent of the worldwide market for the neurotoxin. One market analyst speculates that “Reloxin may be priced 15 percent lower than Botox” which could allow it to take a significant share of that market.

Obagi: a terrific solution for uneven skin tone, melasma or hyperpigmentation

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009 by editor

Have spots appeared on the sides of your face, chest and forehead? Did you know that in many cases, facial imperfections of this type can be easily treated and minimized?

Blotches on the face, chest and hands are fairly common, and you’ll be happy to know that we carry the Obagi® therapeutic skin care line as a possible remedy. Many are aware of Obagi® products but not everyone knows that Obagi is the top skin care line sold exclusively to physicians.

Obagi® has a reputation for its effective Nu Derm® System, also known as Corrective and Enhance®, which smoothes fine lines, fades brown spots and fixes other skin imperfections in just a few months.

Throughout the aging progresses, dark spots and uneven skin tone can affect the face.  Sometimes even a mask will appear over the nose and cheek area, especially after a pregnancy or birth control use. Obagi’s, Clear™ has prescription strength Hydroquinone to correct discoloration and equalize skin tones. Hydroquinone is the active ingredient used for its “fading” properties, which proactively corrects the early signs of damage by regulating the cell production that is responsible for skin pigment.

Prescription Obagi skin care products are far more effective than any over-the-counter product.  They are specially formulated to achieve a desired end, and they’ve become a real way to get visibly dramatic results. Obagi® is a medical grade skin care program so speaking with a physician like Dr. Daniel is necessary before purchasing.

Don’t put it off any longer! If you’re interested in lightening those dark spots on your face, chest and hands with Clear™ or are interested in other Obagi® products give us a call at (541) 687-8900 or request a free consultation here. You’ll look better and then you feel so much better about your one and only face.

Perhaps you know someone who has pigmentation problems?  Have them get in touch with us. We now know if this type of problem goes untreated and if sun exposure continues, these areas can darken to the point where even make up won’t cover them up. Anyone that has wrestled with these problems should know this firsthand.

Reliant Technologies Inc. has launched an innovative new website for marketing Fraxel, their brand of fractional laser designed for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation.  The purpose of the site, according to company spokespersons, is to educate patients and physicians on the product and provide “credible information on what makes Fraxel the gold standard in skin rejuvenation.”

Fraxel.com features an impressive flash-animation layout and displays recent clinical data, patient educational materials, videos/product demonstrations and for patients, an easier ability to compare each Fraxel systems’ intensity level and expected results.

For physicians the site includes web-seminars,video lectures, links to peer-reviewed articles and clinical studies featuring the Fraxel laser.

Jim Venable, director of Reliant Tech consumer marketing says the site was designed “particularly for consumers who must sort through a crowded aesthetics market place.”

Stem Cell Assisted Breast Augmentation in the News Again

Sunday, November 30th, 2008 by editor

On Wednesday, November 19, CNN reported on Japanese surgeon Kotaro Yoshimura and his somewhat controversial breast augmentation method.

Yoshimura has received notoriety for using stem cell assisted lipotransfer in his breast augmentation procedures. The regenerative capabilities present in stem cells are supposed to make fat grafting more effective. Clinical trials are apparently underway in the U.S.
