Patients who want to contour their physique through targeted fat removal without the downtime of surgery can benefit from CoolSculpting®, a nonsurgical body contouring treatment for reducing stubborn bulges that don’t respond to traditional weight loss methods. CoolSculpting® can also enhance the results of a previous body contouring procedure.
The medical professionals at Aesthetic Plastic Surgery specialize in nonsurgical body contouring. Our trained medical technicians know that moving forward with any cosmetic procedure is a big decision, and take pride in their ability to provide results that will leave you feeling confident with your appearance.

As with any cosmetic procedure, the first step to achieving your ideal results is scheduling a consultation with one of our medical professionals. During this appointment, you can discuss your goals with an aesthetician and ask any questions you may have about the procedure. Your aesthetician will also make recommendations to help you further determine which areas of your body can be treated to best meet your goals.
While CoolSculpting® can be an effective alternative to traditional liposuction for patients with less extensive needs, your results will be limited due to the noninvasive nature of the procedure. CoolSculpting® is not an alternative to traditional weight loss. The best candidates for CoolSculpting® are in good overall physical and mental health and have reached their ideal body weight, but are still troubled by stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.
Developed by Harvard scientists, this unique, FDA-approved procedure uses a targeted cooling process that kills the fat cells underneath the skin using a process called cryolipolysis. The process crystalizes fat cells with a controlled cooling technique, freezing them to the point of elimination without damaging nearby cells or tissue.
During your CoolSculpting® procedure, a cooling applicator will be applied to your problem areas to freeze away your unwanted fat. Most commonly, CoolSculpting® is used on small, isolated areas of adipose (fatty) tissue such as the love handles or muffin top. The treatment itself normally takes takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on the number of target areas.
Many patients benefit from a second treatment 2 to 4 months after the initial procedure to further fine-tune their results.
One of the biggest advantages to CoolSculpting® is that the procedure requires no downtime. Patients may resume their normal routine immediately following treatment. However, depending on the patient, minor temporary discomfort may occur. Possible side effects can include redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness to the touch, cramping, itching or tingling.
Patients typically lose 20 to 25 percent of their fat in each treated area. Results can take from 2 to 4 months to develop, after which you may choose to undergo an additional treatment. Many patients begin to notice results after 2 to 3 weeks, though significant results may not be visible until the 3-month mark. As your body needs time to naturally remove the treated fat cells, your results may not be fully developed until up to 6 months after your treatment.
CoolSculpting® results are designed to be long lasting. However, patients are encouraged to maintain their contouring results with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
