smiling pretty womanInjectable dermal fillers are some of the most popular cosmetic treatments for men and women alike. But if you’re wondering how long dermal fillers last before deciding if they could be right for you, take a look at this guide for some of the most common options.

JUVÉDERM®

JUVÉDERM® is a type of injectable dermal filler that contains a naturally-occurring sugar called hyaluronic acid. If lost facial volume and/or lines and wrinkles in the mid-face area are a cosmetic concern, JUVÉDERM may be able to help.

Depending on the type of JUVÉDERM that you choose, your dermal filler treatments can last anywhere from 6 to 12 months before gradually diminishing.

Voluma®

JUVÉDERM Voluma® is a specific type of dermal filler that is typically recommended to help restore lost facial volume and improve the appearance of facial contours. Depending on your how your body responds to treatment and a number of other factors, Voluma results could last for up to 2 years.

Restylane®

Another common type of hyaluronic acid filler is Restylane, which can last an average of 6 to 9 months before a touch-up might be required. Restylane is FDA-approved for temporary correction of moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles.

Sculptra®

Rather than using hyaluronic acid, Sculptra® is a poly L-lactic acid dermal filler that has been shown to last from 2 to 5 years. It works by helping to nourish important proteins in the skin and promote collagen production.

If you’re having trouble deciding which type of dermal filler could be right for you, schedule a consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon’s office for a professional opinion.
