Sabel’s Before & After Blepharoplasty Story

sabel before&after eyelid surgeryI’ll be the first person to tell you that I love being 52… and I especially love the wisdom that I’ve learned after 52 years! But as a Certified Advanced Aesthetician, I also know that looking in the mirror every day and seeing an aspect of my appearance that bothered me yet doing nothing about it was the very definition of insanity. And that’s why I decided to get upper blepharoplasty surgery, also known as eyelid surgery or an eye lift.

Making the Plastic Surgery Decision That Was Right for Me

Every single person I knew told me I didn’t need eyelid surgery and I looked fine without it, but I knew how much the appearance of my eyelids bothered me every single day. And I couldn’t keep pretending that it didn’t. Not only was I unhappy with the look of my heavy eyelids, but I felt like I was overcompensating for them by lifting my brows all day. This even led to chronic tension headaches and dry eyes!

Now, I’m incredibly lucky that my workplace just happens to be in a plastic surgery practice, so I could easily get a professional opinion on whether I was a good candidate for the procedure. I’m also lucky that Dr. Daniel was super supportive of my goals, and hears stories just like mine all day long from every patient he sees. (For that matter, so do I!)

After giving it a lot of thought, I decided to move forward with the surgery.

Before & After My Eyelid Surgery

sabel eyelid surgery progress picsI scheduled my upper bleph on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend so I’d have a 3-day weekend for recovery time. I was back at work on Tuesday with only minor bruising, and the testimonial video I put together was recorded 19 days after surgery.

I couldn’t be happier with my results. I feel like I look exactly as I should.

I’ve always felt that a person should make minor changes while they still look like themselves. Beauty should never be forced. That’s why for any plastic surgery or non-surgical treatments I’ve chosen for myself, my goal has always been the same: to just keep looking like myself. Not look like some Hollywood version of myself, not look like a caricature of myself, and not look like someone else completely. I just want to look like me.

Feeling great about ourselves carries us throughout our day, and self-confidence is the most important aspect of beauty. Self-confidence helps at work, helps at home, helps in every aspect of our lives.

If you’re considering plastic surgery or non-surgical med spa treatments and something keeps holding you back, let me just reassure you that doing something to improve your appearance isn’t vanity; it’s sanity. You’re making the decision that’s right for you, and one that will finally remove that nagging feeling that bugs you every time you look in the mirror.

This is exactly what we’re talking about when we say “Live Beautiful!” And after my eyelid surgery, I definitely feel like I’m living as a more confident, beautifully refreshed version of myself!
