When it comes to hair loss, few men would say they’ve enjoyed watching their hairlines recede. Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is all the rage in today’s health and wellness scene for its rejuvenating properties and ability to help turn back the clock in a number of ways, including hair restoration. PRP, rich in growth factors, can stimulate hair follicle activity and promote new hair growth so you can enjoy the hairline of your youth once again.
Dr. Lee B. Daniel knows a thing or two about bringing out the superhero in every man. As one of the best plastic surgeons for men throughout the state of Oregon, he is proud to have helped thousands of satisfied clients in the greater Eugene area and beyond.

Prior to having hair restoration treatments with PRP, you’ll have a private consultation at our office to discuss your goals for hair restoration and what you can expect from the treatment. You can outline your goals for hair restoration and learn more about the results you can hope to achieve from PRP therapy. Some men combine PRP hair restoration with other rejuvenating treatments like an anti-aging vitamin regimen.
The first step of PRP therapy is a simple blood draw taken from your arm. Once your blood is collected in a tube, the PRP is separated from the rest of your blood cells using a centrifuge. Your nurse injector will then carefully inject the PRP directly into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles. The process is very detailed and requires many injections across the scalp, at approximately half-inch intervals across every area of thinning hair. The entire procedure usually takes around half an hour.
PRP hair restoration therapy works best when a series of treatments are performed. Initially, most men have a treatment once a month for 3 to 4 months, followed by treatments spaced about 3 to 6 months apart, depending on the individual’s progress.
PRP therapy requires no downtime and you can return to your normal routine as soon as your appointment is over. You may develop some minor swelling or pinkness at the injection sites, but because injections are typically done on the scalp, any side effects tend to be discreet.
Most men notice a significant decrease in hair shedding over the first 2 to 3 months of PRP therapy. With continued treatments, you should notice a gradual thickening of the hair and a return to a more youthful looking hairline.
